 Opera Premiere July 18, 2013
The 2013 Bregenz Festival in Austria gave the world premiere of The Merchant of Venice (Der Kaufmann von Venedig) at the Festival Theater on July 18th with additional performances on July 21st and July 28th. This was a co-production with the Grand Theatre, Warsaw, and supported by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, which means the opera will move to Warsaw in 2014. The opera is in three acts and an epilogue by André Tchaikowsky with the libretto by John O’Brien, after the play by William Shakespeare.
